Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

1. Papers should be 15 to 25 pages in length (or about 3700 to 6500 words).
2. Citations should follow the current guidelines found in the Chicago Manual of Style.
3. Text should be double-spaced and in 12 point font. Footnotes should be single-spaced.
4. Include your name, title of the paper, and your contact information on a sheet separate from the main text.
5. Previously published papers or papers submitted to other journals will not be accepted.
6. Only one submission per student is allowed for every publication.
7. Please submit papers using Microsoft Word or a program that is compatible with Microsoft Word. (ex. OpenOffice)

Copyright Notice

Authors who publish with Études Historiques agree to the following terms:

• The author grants Études Historiques exclusive first publication and distribution rights to the work.
  
  
  
• In the event the author wishes to submit the article for publication elsewhere after it has appeared in Études Historiques, the author must obtain permission from the publisher, whose permission shall not be unreasonably withheld.
  
  
  
• There will be no monetary payment for the work or the grant of rights. Études Historiques reserves the right not to publish or otherwise use the work, as well as the right to edit the article.
  
  
  
• The author also warrants to the publisher that the article is an original work.
  
  
  
• Authors are permitted and encouraged to post their work online (e.g., in institutional repositories or on their website) prior to and during the submission process, as it can lead to productive exchanges, as well as earlier and greater citation of published work (See The Effect of Open Access).
